Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) concluded an international academic exchange agreement on August 27 with five major Spanish universities for development and global cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors.
For this academic exchange agreement, Carmen Galván, Vice-President of the University of Cordoba (University of Cordoba), visited JBNU that day and met with Vice-President Shin Hyo-geun to sign the agreement.
The agreement, with the University of Cordoba as the lead institution and the Universities of Jaen (University of Jaen), Almeria (University of Almeria), Huelva (University of Huelva), and Cadiz (University of Cadiz) forming a five-university consortium, aims to establish an outstanding internationalized agri-food campus through close exchange with JBNU, which possesses world-class research capabilities and educational environments in the agri-food field.
To this end, the major Spanish universities forming the consortium identified the top Korean university in agriculture and food and concluded the agreement with JBNU, which holds top research competitiveness, personnel, and facilities in agri-food areas such as LED agri-bio and bio-food.
Accordingly, JBNU and the major Spanish universities, including the University of Cordoba, agreed to exchange faculty, staff, researchers, and students in the agriculture and food fields, and to closely share academic materials, publications, and information.
They also agreed to carry out excellent research in the agri-food sector through joint research projects and to hold academic conferences.
Carmen Galván, Vice-President of the University of Cordoba, said, "We concluded this agreement after receiving a recommendation that Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is a university with world-class research, technology, and human resources in the agri-food sector. We will closely share JBNU's excellent research, advanced technologies, and personnel related to the agri-food field to build an outstanding internationalized agri-food campus."
Vice-President Shin Hyo-geun said, "I am very pleased that major Spanish universities have formed a consortium and thus opened the way for close exchange with JBNU in the agri-food field. Going forward, I hope we can pool efforts not only for personnel and material exchanges but also for joint research, and become a desirable role model for international cooperation in the agri-food sector."
