Professor Park In-hyun (55) of the Department of Fine Arts has been appointed as the new Dean of the College of Arts at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU).

President Seo Geoseok presented the letter of appointment to Professor Park In-hyun, the new Dean of the College of Arts, in the President's office at University Headquarters on August 23, and urged Professor Park to make every effort to strengthen the college's competitiveness.

Accordingly, Dean Park is scheduled to serve a two-year term as Dean of the College of Arts through 2014.

President Seo said, "Professor Park In-hyun is a nationally representative Korean-style painter who captures the vitality of nature on canvas and is the right person to lead the development of the College of Arts with a progressive mindset and leadership," and asked, "As you breathe life into your canvases, please strive to ensure that the JBNU College of Arts attains greater competitiveness."

Dean Park said, "During my term, I will do my utmost to help the JBNU College of Arts contribute to the sound development of regional culture and to lead the advancement of the arts in Korea. I will lead the College's development based on improvements to research conditions and teaching environments, as well as on communication and harmony among its members."

Meanwhile, Dean Park graduated from Hongik University's College of Fine Arts, Department of Oriental Painting, and has served on JBNU's faculty since 1989, playing a major role in training future artists.

Professor Park has served as an invited artist and juror for the Mudeung Art Exhibition, as an executive committee member of the Korea Women's Art Exhibition, and as a juror for the Art World Grand Prize Exhibition, among other roles. Professor Park has received the 8th Seoknam Art Award selected by the Korean Artists Association, the 1st Invited Artist Award at the Byeokgong Art Exhibition, and the Silver Medal at the Beijing International Art Expo.
