A student at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has attracted attention by facilitating the export of products from a local SME through sustained contact with an overseas buyer.

The student in the spotlight is Hwang Du-hyun, a third-year student in the Department of Business Administration. Hwang, who is active in the Global Trade Experts Training Project Group, participated in the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, in April. There he first met Gunawan, an Indonesian buyer, and after about four months of continuous consultations he concluded an export contract worth US$40,000 for products made by Yejoo World Co., Ltd., a company that manufactures ice-cream production equipment.

In particular, when the Indonesian buyer requested to tour Yejoo World's factory in person, Hwang invited the buyer to the company after consulting with the company's president, Min Kyunghan, and achieved the result of completing the product shipment after finalizing the contract at the end of July.

Min Kyunghwan, president of Yejoo World, said, "Students active in the JBNU Global Trade Experts Training Project Group are not only fluent in foreign languages but also possess abundant practical trade knowledge, which greatly helps SMEs that find it difficult to develop sales channels. I am grateful to the student who provided significant assistance in securing the export contract, and I am very pleased because this contract is expected to lead to continued orders from the Indonesian buyer."

In response, Hwang Du-hyun said, "I am very pleased to have been able to help local SMEs that struggle to open sales channels in overseas markets. I will use the Project Group to gain more practical experience and as a stepping stone to grow into a global trade professional."

Yoon Chung-won, director of the Global Trade Experts Training Project Group, said, "Our Project Group spares no effort to provide students with practical experience while opening overseas export routes for local SMEs. We hope that local SMEs will actively utilize our Project Group to expand their exports."
