Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has emerged as a core institution for nurturing outstanding talent in database-related fields.

JBNU signed an agreement with the Korea Database Agency at 11:00 a.m. on August 14 to establish an industry–university cooperation framework for the 'DB Professional Workforce Training Project' and to begin cultivating specialized DB personnel.

At the signing ceremony, President Seo Geo-seok, Director Seo Gang-su of the Korea Database Agency, and key stakeholders including participating company representatives Lee Hwa-sik, CEO of Enpoa, and Kim Beom, Executive Director of Wearvalley, gathered to express their commitment to nurturing excellent DB talent.

The Korea Database Agency has been donating DB software and educational infrastructure to universities as part of the DB Professional Workforce Training Project, and under this agreement it will provide JBNU with a range of DB-related educational services.

In particular, participating companies such as Encoa are donating hundreds of DB-related software titles to JBNU, which is expected to open excellent educational opportunities for students.

Accordingly, JBNU will provide tailored education centered on the Division of Information Technology and Engineering and the Department of Library & Information Science to help students develop into outstanding professionals in database-related fields.

In addition, JBNU and its partners will strengthen cooperation across all relevant areas to cultivate specialized personnel, including offering special lectures for current students to obtain DB professional certifications and providing free online courses.

President Seo Geo-seok said, 'Through this agreement, receiving donations of high-value practical database software and educational content from the agency and companies is expected to greatly enhance the quality of education in the related fields,' adding, 'I hope this will serve as an opportunity for JBNU to cultivate excellent DB professionals and to create high added value through sustained cooperation.'
