"I will strive to introduce the beauty of Korea to the world through pansori performances at the Olympics and to boost the morale of our athletes competing there."

Once hailed as a 'gugak prodigy,' Yu Tae-pyung (a second-year student in the Department of Korean Music) is now being recognized as a promising figure who will lead South Korea's traditional music scene. He will visit the London Olympics to promote our musical tradition to the world and to cheer on the Olympic team.

Mr. Yu will visit London with the Goyang Cultural Foundation of Gyeonggi Province from August 4 to 13 for ten days to carry out a variety of activities, including performances and cheering.

During this visit, Mr. Yu will form the "Yu Tae-pyung Trio," which includes two traditional Korean percussionists, and will present pansori and a variety of traditional Korean music genres that have received strong responses from international audiences.

These performances are scheduled to take place more than ten times at famed London street-performance locations, including around the Olympic stadium, the New Malden Koreatown Olympic cheering venue, along the River Thames, the University of Cambridge, the streets within Hyde Park, and in front of the Peacock Theatre in London.

In addition to performances, they plan to conduct peace-themed campaigns addressing issues such as the territorial sovereignty over Dokdo, wartime comfort women, and inter-Korean joint cheering. It is expected that they will serve effectively as South Korea's peace envoys.

Additionally, on August 10 they plan to present various street performances for spectators beginning two hours before the start of competitions at the taekwondo venue where athlete Hwang Kyung-seon will compete, and around the venues for gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, football and other events featuring South Korean athletes who have the nation's hopes.
