The Employee Council composed of staff at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has warmed hearts by continuing for several years to provide scholarships to child heads of household within the province.

On July 13 at 2:00 p.m., the Employee Council invited six elementary school students from the province who are child heads of household to the President's Office at University Headquarters and presented scholarships of KRW 300,000 each in the presence of President Seo Geo-seok.

The scholarships provided this time were collected through small contributions from Employee Council members to give dreams and hope to children who, despite their young age, are struggling to lead their families while continuing their studies.

Since last year, the Employee Council has, twice a year, received recommendations of five to six child heads of household from elementary schools in the province and provided scholarships and rice. The council has also acted as a family caregiver by conducting regular home visits to assess housing and living conditions.

Lee Kyung-chun, Chair of the Employee Council, said, "We gathered the warm hearts of staff so that young students in difficult circumstances do not lose their dreams and can grow into outstanding talents. Through continuous support and visits, not just a single act of concern, we will devote attention and affection so that these young students, the future pillars of the region, can grow into great people."

President Seo said, "I feel proud that the staff have come forward to gather warm support for neighbors in need. I hope the students who received scholarships today will not lose their dreams and will grow into outstanding talents who will lead the region."
