Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) students recently won the student division's top prize, the Prime Minister's Award, at the Concrete Technology Competition hosted by the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korean Concrete Society.
The award recipients were the 'Nobis 2nd' team from the Department of Architectural Engineering — students Jang Hong-seok, Im Yong-taek, Kim Min-chan, Lee Jung-chan, Lee Heung-su, Kim Dan-bi, Han Yeo-jin, and Park Heon-jun — advised by Professor So Seung-young.
Having placed third in last year's competition, the JBNU team competed in the quality category this year. The judges praised the team, noting that their concrete demonstrated high flowability and strength, and excellent accuracy and precision.
Meanwhile, 134 teams participated in this year's competition across general student, new technology, and structural categories. The competition evaluates whether concrete meets specified quality target values, assessing cost-effectiveness, precision, accuracy, high strength, and high flowability.
