"Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s research competitiveness is indeed among the world's best. We will make sure to learn the world's leading research in the fields of nanoscience and engineering and return home."

On July 3, at JBNU's Semiconductor Research Institute, international visitors of diverse backgrounds listened to lectures by JBNU researchers on recent studies in nanomaterials and immersed themselves in experiments, seemingly undeterred by the summer heat.

Six researchers, including Professor Saleh Abdullah Al Sayari of the Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology Research Center at Najran University, Saudi Arabia's leading university, visited JBNU to learn world-class research in the fields of nanoscience and engineering from Professor Han Yun-bong and JBNU research teams.

JBNU and Najran University have maintained close exchanges since signing an international cooperation MOU in 2009 for the exchange of outstanding research personnel and collaborative research.

In particular, last year President Seo Geoseok and Najran University President Mohammed Al Hassan signed an agreement under which JBNU would provide a nanoscience and engineering training program service to Najran University. Professor Han Yun-bong (BIN Convergence Engineering) was appointed as the program director, creating an opportunity for Najran researchers to come to JBNU to learn excellent research in nanoscience and engineering.

Staying at the Semiconductor Technology Center, Division of Chemical Engineering from June 18 to July 14, they are receiving one week of instruction in nanoscience and semiconductor technology, followed by three weeks of hands-on experimental training and visits to industry and research institutes to acquire advanced techniques in the relevant fields.

This training program is intended to concretely advance academic exchanges and international joint research between the two universities. Najran University is covering the full cost of the training.

Considering that it is rare for domestic universities to receive visitors fully funded by foreign universities to learn advanced research techniques, this is interpreted as global recognition of JBNU's research competitiveness.

Leading the delegation and participating in the research and experiments, Professor Al Sayari said, "By conducting this training program at JBNU, which is world-class in the field of nanotechnology, practical cooperation between the two universities has begun. I hope there will be more active academic exchanges and collaborative research in nanotechnology with JBNU, which possesses world-class research competitiveness."
