Professor Kang Shin-jae (College of Engineering, Division of Mechanical Design Engineering) was recognized for his contributions to the industrial development of Jeonbuk Province and received the Jeonju Citizen's Medal in the Industry category at the Jeonju Citizen's Day commemorative ceremony on the 24th.

Since 2002, Professor Kang has served as Director of the Jeonju Mechanical Carbon Technology Institute. He established the country's only carbon fiber pilot system (with an annual capacity of 150 tons), laying the groundwork for domestic production and mass production and solidifying his position as a pioneer in Korea's carbon fiber development.

In particular, he was recognized for jointly developing industry‑oriented technological solutions, including national R&D projects and company‑customized research services; for expanding dedicated personnel; and for leading efforts to attract companies through close coordination with local governments.
