Recently, ranked first in internationalization among 38 national universities in Korea in the UK QS Asia University Rankings, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will once again head out into the world during the scorching summer break.

This is because programs such as the "Global Leader Project," a system that dispatches exchange students to foster students' international mindsets and improve language skills; "overseas volunteer activities," which are engraving JBNU in the hearts of people worldwide; and the "Global Education Tour," where participants acquire advanced technologies and knowledge on the global stage, will be carried out.

JBNU held a kick-off ceremony for the overseas volunteer activities at 3:00 PM on June 20 in Jinsudang Gain Hall, and will hold the launch ceremony for the Global Leader Project on June 22.

A total of 139 students will participate in overseas volunteer activities during this summer break. The students will travel to China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Laos and other countries to put JBNU's values of compassion and sharing into practice worldwide.

In particular, Executive Vice-President Shin Hyo-geun, a professor at the School of Dentistry, will lead dental faculty and students in medical volunteer activities in Vietnam. Professor Park Jin-ho will lead faculty and students from the College of Veterinary Medicine in medical volunteer activities in Mongolia.

Through the Summer Break Global Leader Project, whose launch ceremony will be held on June 22, a total of 149 students will visit partner universities.

The "Global Education Tour," in which students set their own areas of interest and directly experience leading global technologies and knowledge, will also send outstanding students abroad again this year.

This year seven teams comprising 26 students have been selected to visit countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and Spain to pursue their team-defined exploration topics.

President Seo Geoseok said, "JBNU members—among the most passionate and enterprising in the country—plan to travel around the world during the break," adding, "I hope these global experiences broaden their perspectives and foster a sense of community so they develop the qualities of true global leaders."
