"We hope to support local farms that are short of labor."
Employees of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) have been visiting local farms during the busy farming season to assist with labor, serving as an example to the community.
About 60 members of the Employee Council visited a farm in Wondong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, on the afternoon of June 8 and shared in the busy work.
Despite the rain, they diligently bagged pears and helped harvest mulberries.
Lee Kyung-chun, Chair of the Employee Council, said, "Despite the rainy weather, our employees voluntarily stepped forward to help share the difficulties faced by local farms. We will continue to strive to be JBNU employees who consistently share the challenges of the community."
Meanwhile, the Employee Council annually awards scholarships to child heads of households in the province and conducts ongoing home visits to serve as family caregivers, among other activities that support the local community.
