Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will operate a department that awards full scholarships to all enrolled students and guarantees 100% employment.
The Department of Bioindustrial Machinery Engineering announced on the 5th that it has been selected for a graduate‑student training project that guarantees employment with companies in the agricultural machinery sector, and will operate a graduate program.
The project aims to cultivate creative personnel who possess IT convergence and practical field skills required by Jeonbuk’s agricultural machinery industry. Over the next two years, it will receive approximately KRW 170 million from Jeonbuk Province to fund full scholarships and will develop the talent demanded by companies through a phased curriculum.
Companies guaranteeing employment include leading agricultural machinery firms in Korea: LS Mtron Co., Ltd. (3 placements), Dongyang Mulsan Co., Ltd. (4 placements), ODITEC Co., Ltd. (2 placements), and LiveMac Co., Ltd. (1 placement).
Through this program, students will progress through foundational major courses such as Advanced Studies in Physical Properties Engineering of Agricultural Products; specialized tracks including agricultural machinery design and structural analysis, and IT‑convergent agricultural machinery; and applied major courses involving internships, field training, and collaborative research. Students will thereby develop into the customized talent required by industry.
Accordingly, the Department of Bioindustrial Machinery Engineering will select 10 graduate students through a special admissions track for new entrants to the Graduate School for the 2012 academic year (second semester).
Applicants must have a cumulative average grade of 80 points or higher for their bachelor's degree. Graduates and those expected to graduate in August, 2012 are eligible to apply, regardless of undergraduate major, provided they have an interest in agricultural machinery.
The application period and method will be via the website (June 5, 9:00 AM to June 8, 6:00 PM) through www.jbnu.ac.kr.
Successful applicants will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of applicants' subject knowledge, aptitude, and character through a first‑round document screening (50 points) and a second‑round oral examination (50 points) held on June 22.
