Professor Hong Chan-seok (Department of Industrial Design), an artist who dreams of harmonizing with nature, will hold his 15th solo exhibition at Gallery Gongyu from June 7 to 27.

Under the major theme "Nature and Dreams," Professor Hong incorporates everyday subjects that are often encountered fleetingly into his works.

True to the theme, in this exhibition Professor Hong fills his canvases with dreamlike, naturalistic images that seem to converse with nature or to have been seen in a dream.

The exhibition features works that reinterpret the rustic quality of ancient pottery in a contemporary way. By arranging wildflower-like blooms in pots, he creates pieces that are simple yet light in character.

The palette is mainly monotone, with soft pastels such as pale yellow subtly added, so the works resemble black-and-white childhood photographs overlaid with color, evoking distant memories.

Notably, Professor Hong has compiled recent works into a video, combining his two-dimensional and video works to provide a variety of visual experiences.
