Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is holding a series of events that offer hope to university students struggling with employment and that can lead to actual recruitment.
JBNU, together with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, held the 2nd University Student Job Project "Damsso" (談笑, Communication Without Barriers) on the 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Jinsudang Paolo Hall.
"Damsso" is an abbreviation of "Communication Without Barriers" and encourages open, informal exchange. It was held in a job-concert format for students preparing for employment, featuring expert lectures and career consulting.
The event provided students with opportunities to learn about a spirit of challenge, proper professional attitudes, and the qualities companies seek. It was organized to gather students' views on small and mid-sized enterprises and to raise young people's awareness of the companies in the Gunsan National Industrial Complex.
The program featured five mentors — including Kim Kyung-su, Chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation — professors, company representatives from within the industrial complex, career consultants, and public figures. Each delivered a mini-lecture of about 15 minutes, followed by informal discussions with experts on various employment-related topics.
The event was organized around four main themes — 'Challenge', 'Passion', 'Dream', and 'Employment'. Under 'Challenge', Na Deok-ju, CEO of Deck Aviation Co., Ltd., and Seong Do-gyeong, CEO of Vinatech Co., Ltd., spoke on "Youth Unemployment, Entrepreneurship, and Challenges in Small and Medium Enterprises," sharing various insights useful for students' job searches.
In 'Passion', Go San, final candidate for Korea's first astronaut and CEO of Tide Institute, spoke about the passion of taking on challenges. In 'Dream', Kim Kyung-su, Chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, discussed "The Future of Industrial Complexes That May Appeal to University Students" with the students, receiving a strong response.
Additionally, Ha Jeong-pil, a consultant from JobPost, held a Q&A session with students on "Secrets to Employment Success Connecting Companies and Me."
Also, on May 31 at 10:00 a.m., the "2012 Excellent R&D Companies Job Fair" will take place at Jinsudang Gain Hall, creating an opportunity to connect excellent job openings with young job seekers.
Some 40 local and a total of about 120 outstanding R&D companies are expected to participate, offering employment opportunities to talented candidates.
Also at 2:00 p.m. that day in Jinsudang Paolo Hall, the "Knowledge Economy R&D Policy Briefing" hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) will be held, providing an opportunity to learn about trends in Knowledge Economy R&D innovation strategies and policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
