Admissions for the 2013 Academic Year: Recruiting 4,432 Outstanding Candidates
"Outstanding talents across the country, pay attention to Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)!"
Our university has announced the Admissions Plan (Draft) for the 2013 Academic Year and has begun recruiting outstanding candidates.
According to the 2013 Admissions Plan, the total number of openings is 4,432, including 4,124 within quota and 308 outside quota. The number of openings is subject to change due to adjustments in enrollment and will be announced later on the JBNU Admissions Information Website.
By admission type, in Early Admissions Round 1 (Admissions Officer Track) JBNU will select 656 applicants, representing 14.8% of the total openings. Within quota, selections include 396 for the Leaders Track, 40 for the Regional Harmony Talent Track, 127 for Rural Students, and 93 for Equal Opportunity Selection.
In Early Admissions Round 2, JBNU will select a total of 1,742 applicants: 1,560 General Students, 46 National Contributors, 48 Special Talent candidates, 68 Specialized High School Graduates, and 20 Special Education candidates.
In the divided Regular Admissions, Group A will recruit 988 applicants (22.3% of the total) and Group B will recruit 1,046 applicants (23.6% of the total).
Applications will be accepted as follows: Early Admissions Round 1, August 17–22; Round 2, September 6–11. Successful candidates will be announced on December 6 at 2:00 PM. Regular admissions will be held December 21–26 for Group A and December 21–26 for Group B. Successful candidates will be announced on January 29, 2013, at 2:00 PM.
In the 2013 admissions, the Division of Interdisciplinary Majors has changed its recruitment from 40 humanities and 10 natural science students to 50 students from the humanities only.
Also, in Early Admissions Round 1 (Admissions Officer Track), the Leaders Track and the Major-Specific Excellence Track have been merged into the Leaders Track. In Round 2, the Male Student Track that had been applied to the Department of Nursing has been abolished.
The scoring and weightings for the Admissions Officer Track have also been adjusted. In the first-stage screening, whereas last year academic records and extracurricular areas were weighted 60% and 40% respectively, this year each will be weighted 50%. In the second stage, instead of conducting a separate comprehensive evaluation of academic records and documents, the first-stage score will be counted at 50%.
Additionally, eligibility for the Rural Area Track has been restricted to students who completed their entire education at rural middle and high schools and whose parents and the student all reside in a rural area. For the Equal Opportunity Selection, only recipients of lower-tier welfare benefits will be recognized.
Also, beginning with the 2013 Academic Year, unfilled extra-quota positions from early admissions will no longer be transferred to Group B of the regular admissions.
