Professor Kyung-Jin Song (Medical School) received the Outstanding Paper Award at the 41st meeting of the Japan Spine Research Society, held recently in Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan, for excellent research in the field of cervical spine surgery.
Professor Song's study predicts the occurrence of complications related to postoperative soft tissue swelling using simple radiographic imaging after cervical spine surgery. It was praised as a valuable research outcome that can be readily applied in clinical practice.
Professor Song previously received the Outstanding Basic Research Paper Award from the American Cervical Spine Research Society in 2009 and the Outstanding Paper Award from the Asia-Pacific Cervical Spine Research Society in 2010 for his cervical spine research. This time, his research achievements attracted attention in Japan's spinal surgery community, regarded as the mecca of cervical spine research, further demonstrating his standing as a leading global scholar in the field.
