Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has been selected as a hub university to lead the 'Engineering Education Innovation Center Support Project,' organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Recently, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology announced that among the 65 universities nationwide selected for the second-phase Engineering Education Innovation Center Support Project, six universities nationwide, including JBNU, were designated as engineering education hub universities.
As a result, the Honam Region Engineering Education Innovation Center will be reorganized centered on JBNU, and JBNU will take the lead in engineering education innovation.
The second-phase Engineering Education Innovation Center Support Project is aimed at closing the gap between the technical skills of university engineering graduates and the demands of industry. JBNU will receive KRW 200 million per year from the government and carry out various initiatives for engineering education innovation over a 10-year period through 2022.
Through this designation, JBNU will enhance its education system to cultivate self-directed engineers. To develop creative engineering talent demanded by industry, it will strengthen capstone design (comprehensive design) and field training.
It will also continue to promote technology commercialization models and revitalize industry–university–research network systems linked with companies.
