Adjunct Professor Hyunwoo Lee (Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture) of the Department of Landscape Architecture received the Outstanding Paper Award in recognition of his excellent research at the recent Spring Conference and Paper Presentation of the Korean Society for Traditional Landscape Architecture.

Professor Lee presented a paper at the conference titled 'A Study on the Meaning and Mount Effect of Twelve Peaks of Musan in Yongho Garden, Jinju' and received favorable reviews.

The paper, which was published last year in Volume 29, Issue 4 (No. 78) of the Journal of the Korean Society for Traditional Landscape Architecture, has been recognized for its systematic analysis showing that the Musan Twelve Peaks in Jinju's Yongho Garden are an archetype of traditional chuksan (築山, 假山, 'mount'; a mound created by piling stones and soil to resemble a mountain in a garden) and a traditional landscape design element capable of overcoming the monotony of terrain and eliciting variation and interest.

Meanwhile, the Korean Society for Traditional Landscape Architecture is an academic organization established in December 1980 to investigate and study Korea's traditional landscape culture, preserve and transmit its philosophies and techniques, and contribute to the development of landscape culture by integrating them into modern landscape architecture. The society's journal, the Journal of the Korean Society for Traditional Landscape Architecture, is indexed by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
