The Recreation and Landscape Planning Research Institute, affiliated with our university (Director: Professor Deuk‑Su Ahn, Department of Landscape Architecture), publishes the 'Journal of the Recreation and Landscape Planning Research Institute.' The journal has been selected as a 'candidate journal for listing' by the National Research Foundation of Korea, the first such designation nationwide in the field of landscape studies.

The journal was commended for its expertise and for broadly covering development plans and policies on current issues in the fields of recreation and landscape.

In particular, Industry-University Cooperation has supported the publication of journals issued by university research institutes to enable selection as NRF-listed journals. Thanks to this support, the Journal of the Recreation and Landscape Planning Research Institute has become the fourth journal from a research institute affiliated with Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) to be selected as an NRF candidate journal.

First published in 2007, the journal was previously issued twice a year. From this year, the number of issues will increase to three per year in order to include leading domestic research on recreational spaces and landscapes.

Director Deuk‑Su Ahn said, 'Our journal was selected as an NRF candidate journal because it presents a wide range of research and discourse in the relevant fields.' He added, 'Going forward, we will strengthen our role as a multidisciplinary convergence center in the fields of recreation and landscape and strive to advance into a national research institute.'

Meanwhile, the Recreation and Landscape Planning Research Institute was established in 2005 with the aim of leading research on sustainable recreational spaces and landscapes and contributing to the creation of comfortable and ecologically sound outdoor environments. Despite its relatively short history, it secured its position in 2011 as JBNU's core multidisciplinary convergence research institute and has been building a foundation for new advancement.
