Our university, which was selected last year as the best-performing teaching university nationwide, is drawing attention this year for actively strengthening student educational competitiveness by improving educational conditions and modernizing the academic system.

▲Improving Educational Conditions To Strengthen Educational Competitiveness

Our university has extensively remodeled the first floor of the Learning Library and the old University Headquarters interior this year to provide a better learning environment and significantly expand student study spaces.

As student-led study group culture has spread across campus, the university created six study rooms on the first floor of the Learning Library and an audiovisual room suitable for seminars (ACE Auditorium, Keunsaram Hall) to meet that demand.

The old University Headquarters building was also remodeled to create spaces for student employment and start-up activities. These facilities will soon open to students, providing an environment where they can study freely.

The first-floor spaces in the Learning Library are currently available through time-slot bookings administered by the Career Support Center. A variety of special lectures on education and employment are held in the ACE Auditorium. A weekly employment lecture series, "Keunsaram Dream Lecture," featuring external speakers is held every Wednesday and has received strong student support.

Following remodeling, the old University Headquarters building now houses the newly established "Foundation Liberal Arts Education Center" on the second floor. The center, launched this year to strengthen basic education, will offer a range of programs to bolster educational competitiveness.

In addition, thirteen rooms have been prepared on the first floor to accommodate the Entrepreneurship Education Support Center, start-up clubs, and employment-related student clubs. These spaces will be used to enhance education and employment competitiveness.

▲Modernizing the Academic System at the Core of Strengthening Educational Competitiveness

The university is implementing a range of institutional reforms to become an institution that teaches well. These include consolidating basic education, strengthening major education, and fundamentally improving educational conditions.

Starting this year, the university is seeking various academic system changes to enable better teaching and more creative learning. The plan is to raise both teaching pedagogical capacity and student capabilities through rigorous academic standards.

To enhance class quality and efficiency, the university has partially introduced a 75-minute class module alongside the existing 50-minute lecture format. The grade reporting system will be changed from raw scores to a letter-grade system, and relative grading will be applied to all courses to curb grade inflation and increase the credibility of assessment methods and results.

The university has also implemented a course registration "shopping cart" system to broaden the range of courses students can access. A "course withdrawal" policy has been introduced to ensure students can select classes that suit their needs without disadvantage.

In particular, the university has introduced a "Self Credit Management System" to enable students to manage their credits systematically. This allows students to plan their credits during enrollment to support graduation and employment readiness.

▲Establishing the Foundation Liberal Arts Education Center To Reinforce Basic Education

Strengthening basic education is the university's top priority in enhancing students' educational competitiveness. To that end, the university established the Foundation Liberal Arts Education Center this year to reinforce students' foundational learning.

The newly formed Foundation Liberal Arts Education Center expands and reorganizes a dedicated structure for strengthening basic education. This follows the university's selection last year for the Ministry of Education's Academic Excellence in Undergraduate Education (ACE) project, which contributed to its recognition as the nation’s leading teaching university.

The former liberal arts education office within the Office of Academic Affairs was reorganized into the Liberal Arts Education Center. The university integrated three related units — the Center for Teaching and Learning Development, which focused on developing diverse teaching methods, the e-learning Support Center, which provided online learning, and the former liberal arts office — to increase synergy. One administrative team was established to facilitate project implementation.

The Liberal Arts Education Center will oversee the development, organization, operation, academic management, and assessment of the liberal arts curriculum. It will also work to enhance students' foundational liberal arts competencies and manage various education-related accreditation tasks.

The Center for Teaching and Learning Development will undertake research and development to improve faculty teaching methods, develop student learning strategies, and enhance communication skills. It will also provide learning and writing counseling and produce educational media.

The e-learning Center will carry out joint e-learning content development and research among participating universities nationwide, support e-learning for university course delivery, operate remote training programs, and provide online learning counseling and guidance for students.
