As Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has significantly expanded its scholarship funding this year, donations from alumni graduates have continued, and more students are expected to benefit.
Kim Yu-seok, CEO of Jeongwoo Fine Co., Ltd., an alumnus of the Department of Chemical Engineering (Class of 1981), donated KRW 15 million on the morning of March 15 for student scholarships.
While managing a mid-sized company, Kim said he had been seeking ways to contribute to his alma mater and decided to donate a scholarship for his juniors in the department.
Accordingly, the fund will be named the "Jeongwoo Fine Scholarship" and will annually support three outstanding students from the Department of Chemical Engineering, each receiving KRW 1,000,000.
Kim said, "Whenever I hear news of JBNU's remarkable progress — such as being ranked sixth among comprehensive universities nationwide in recent world university rankings — I feel compelled to do something meaningful for my juniors and the university. Although the scholarship amount is modest, I hope it will serve as a stepping stone for my juniors to grow into outstanding leaders of the Republic of Korea."
Meanwhile, Jeongwoo Fine Co., Ltd. is a mid-sized company located in the Iksan 2 Industrial Complex. Established in 1995, it produces precision chemical products that serve as basic materials for various industries, including construction adhesives and surfactants.
