Last year, the department with the highest employment rate at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) was the Department of Nursing, College of Nursing.
JBNU selected the ten departments with the highest employment rates last year as departments with outstanding employment rates and held an awards ceremony on the afternoon of March 2.
The Outstanding Employment Departments were selected based on the results of the Korea Educational Development Institute's '2011 Employment Statistics Survey Linked with the National Health Insurance DB'.
▲Department of Nursing, College of Nursing recorded the highest employment rate at 83.1%; ▲Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering 75.3%; ▲Division of Advanced Materials Engineering (Information Materials Engineering) 75%; ▲Division of Advanced Materials Engineering (Metallurgical System Engineering) 74.5%; ▲Department of Electrical Engineering 73.9%; ▲Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences 68.3%; ▲Department of Semiconductor Science and Technology, College of Natural Science 61.9%; ▲Department of Social Welfare, College of Social Science 56.3%; ▲Department of Forest Environmental Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences 55.9% — were recognized as Outstanding Employment Departments.
This survey excluded intern teaching assistants and corporate interns, and because it was linked to the National Health Insurance DB, it demonstrates that employment rates have improved not only quantitatively but also qualitatively.
President Seo Geoseok said, "Many departments have seen their employment rates rise year by year, but there remains much to be done," and added, "Let us develop various employment support programs and, with steady efforts from each department, create a university where every student can graduate with a smile."
