“We will engrave the grace you have bestowed upon Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) in 'Kim Gwang-su Hall' and remember it forever.”

Last year, JBNU named the Law School's Advanced Lecture Hall "Kim Gwang-su Hall" to honor the noble intent of Mokjeong (牧汀) Kim Gwang-su (87), Honorary Chairman of MiraeN Group and former Member of the National Assembly, who donated a large development fund to the university to foster outstanding local talent.

JBNU held the naming ceremony for "Kim Gwang-su Hall" in front of the Law School's Advanced Lecture Hall at 3:00 p.m. on February 21. President Seo Geoseok, Vice-President Shin Hyo-geun and other JBNU officials attended, along with Honorary Chairman Kim Gwang-su and representatives of MiraeN Group.

Although JBNU has previously attached individuals' names to international conference halls and auditoriums, this is the first time a lecture hall has been named after an individual.

JBNU named the lecture hall "Kim Gwang-su Hall" because, in October of last year, Honorary Chairman Kim donated KRW 1 billion to the university and requested that the funds be used to train talent to lead regional development. The naming reflects the university's intention to record in history Honorary Chairman Kim's significant contributions to university development and the education of future generations.

A nameplate reading "Kim Gwang-su Hall" was installed at the entrance to the lecture hall, with an explanatory plaque attached directly below describing the meaning of the naming.

At the plaque unveiling ceremony, President Seo Geoseok said, "We have named the Advanced Lecture Hall 'Kim Gwang-su Hall' to forever remember the great intent of Mokjeong Kim Gwang-su, who loved the region and devoted his life to cultivating outstanding local talent." He added, "We will never forget his great dedication to university development and the nurturing of excellent talent."
