JBNU has received government accreditation confirming that it operates as a sound and well-managed university.

JBNU received 'Institutional Accreditation' in the '2011 Institutional Evaluation of Universities,' a review implemented by the Ministry of Education and conducted by the University Evaluation Institute affiliated with the Korean Council for University Education, which assessed the university's overall administration. Only 30 universities nationwide, including JBNU and Seoul National University, received institutional accreditation from the government for the first time.

The institutional accreditation evaluation system was introduced to guarantee the quality of university education for education consumers and to promote continuous quality improvement within universities. The evaluation covered six areas and 17 categories: the university's mission and development plan; university constituents; education; educational facilities; university finance and management; and social service.

In this evaluation, JBNU met the indicator criteria in all areas, demonstrating excellence in the university's overall operations, including its vision, educational activities, and management.

The evaluation results will be reflected, beginning in 2014, in the selection of universities for the University Capacity Enhancement Program, in general student loan eligibility, in the allocation of university research indirect costs, and in other government administrative and financial support programs.
