A science volunteer team composed of students from Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will participate independently in an overseas science-sharing volunteer activity hosted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and organized by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.

The students participating in this overseas science-sharing volunteer activity form the "Science Volunteer Corps" team: Geoseong Lee (2nd year, Department of Physics), Seunghee Lee (2nd year, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition), Hayang Park (2nd year, Department of Korean Language & Literature), and Jaehwan Cho (2nd year, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences).

They will conduct science-sharing volunteer activities for local youths in locations including Manila, the Philippines, from February 7–17 (10 nights, 11 days).

The volunteer activities will be operated using about ten diverse STEAM-based science and creativity education programs that the students themselves planned. The programs will be run with advice from the JBNU Living Science Classroom.

Their solo participation in this overseas science-sharing volunteer activity is because they took part as the youngest science-sharing team in the 5th University Student Science Sharing Support Project conducted by the Ministry, where they won first place for best science program proposal and were subsequently selected as the top science-sharing team.

At that time, the students were selected as the top science-sharing team and were awarded an "overseas science exploration" as a prize. Through coordination with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, they revised and pursued the overseas science exploration as an "overseas science volunteer activity," culminating in this first overseas science-sharing volunteer effort.

Team leader Geoseong Lee said, "I will approach this overseas science-sharing volunteer activity with a different excitement than when conducting science-sharing volunteer activities domestically. Based on Korea's excellent science content, I will strive to make our science-sharing time a happy scientific story that can move the local youths."
