The newly appointed dean of the School of Dentistry is Professor Song Gwang-yeop, and the newly appointed dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is Professor Yang Byung-woo.

President Seo Geoseok presented letters of appointment to Dean Song and Dean Yang at 2:30 PM on January 10 and asked them to work to strengthen the competitiveness of the School of Dentistry and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences over the next two years.

The newly appointed dean of the School of Dentistry, Song Gwang-yeop, stated, “The School of Dentistry has established a distinctive competitive edge in education nationwide through programs such as the PBL (problem-based learning) education model. We will continue efforts to raise our educational competitiveness. We will concentrate on strengthening research capacity, enhancing alumni exchange, and contributing to the local community so that the professional graduate school can grow into an institution recognized not only in the Republic of Korea but also internationally.”

The newly appointed dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Yang Byung-woo, stated, “Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) ranks 96th in the world in the agricultural and life sciences field and possesses top competitiveness in research and education. Going forward, we will focus our efforts on research and education in the increasingly important agricultural life bio sector and strive to become the leading university in this area.”

The newly appointed dean of the School of Dentistry, Song Gwang-yeop, graduated from Seoul National University School of Dentistry and completed master’s and doctoral degree programs at the same university.

Since 1987 he has served as a professor at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU). He has held positions including visiting research professor at Oregon Health Sciences University, Director of Student Affairs at the School of Dentistry, and Director of Dental Clinical Services at Jeonbuk National University Hospital.

The newly appointed dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Yang Byung-woo, graduated from the Department of Agricultural Economics and completed a master’s program at the same graduate school. He earned his doctoral degree from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Denmark.

Since 1995 he has served as a professor at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU). He has held positions including visiting research professor at Oklahoma State University, Director of Technical Education and Training at the Center for Agricultural Science and Technology Development, and Chair of the Department of Agricultural Economics.
