Recently, regarding the issue of domestic students' residency at the Residence Halls on JBNU's Jeonju Campus, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) and the JBNU Student Council have agreed to maintain the number of domestic resident students at last year's level.

JBNU held a meeting on January 26 at 1:00 PM attended by President Yang Oh-bong, senior administrative faculty, and the JBNU Student Council executive team (President and Vice President) to discuss measures to minimize housing inconveniences for domestic students.

At the meeting, participants agreed to pursue measures such as increasing the capacity of certain Residence Halls on the Jeonju Campus and designating Hunsan Geonji House as a facility exclusively for residence hall use to respond to this year's surge in international student demand while expanding allocations for domestic students.

In particular, the core point of the agreement is that domestic students will be substantially accommodated in Chambit Hall, which had been controversial due to plans to reserve it exclusively for international students. JBNU and the JBNU Student Council agreed to cooperate to resolve any issues that may arise in order to maintain the number of domestic resident students at last year's level.

Based on this agreement, JBNU will announce specific allocation plans and related details as soon as they are finalized.

A JBNU official said, "Above all, we sincerely apologize for causing concern to our students and their parents. We will adjust residence hall operations to minimize the inconvenience and concerns of domestic students and will prioritize expanding allocations for domestic students. We will closely consult with the Student Council and promptly carry out follow-up procedures."

The JBNU Student Council also said, "We appreciate the university's efforts to increase the number of domestic students residing in the Residence Halls. We expect the university to remain attentive to and work together to resolve any issues that arise from the increase in residents."
