Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) successfully concluded the '2025 JBNU Research Fair Week,' a large-scale research exchange event aimed at expanding the university's advanced research outcomes into industry and future growth engines.

The event took place from January 20 to 22, 2025, at the Jinsudang area of JBNU. It focused on bringing together the university's accumulated research capabilities and advanced-field achievements to expand industry–university–research collaboration and strengthen links for regional and national innovation.

Held under the slogan "Extending Research Outcomes to Industry and the Future," the Research Fair Week was organized as a comprehensive research exchange event that combined conferences and academic programs centered on national strategic industries such as Physical AI and the defense industry, along with linked programs for graduate students and international students.

On the first day, January 20, the opening ceremony was followed by a Physical AI and Defense Industry Conference. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute, and industry stakeholders participated and focused intensively on key issues in strategic industrial sectors, including rapid acquisition strategies for new technologies, protection of defense technologies, and the policy environment for the defense industry.

Subsequent sessions presented cases of Physical AI–based manufacturing innovation and system implementation being pursued by JBNU, directions for Physical AI development, and trends in AX innovation. Experts from the Science and Technology Policy Institute, LG Electronics, ETRI's AI Robot Research Division, PwC Consulting, and Wisenut participated in presentations and discussions, continuing the dialogue that connects technological trends with industry demands.

Through these discussions, various perspectives were presented on how university research can be connected to actual industrial sites and policy needs, providing an opportunity to assess the practical applicability of research outcomes.

On January 21 and 22, BK21 Project Division academic events continued. Eight departmental education–research groups participated to present recent research outcomes and shared achievements in international collaborative research and expansion of global research networks through seminars that invited overseas partner researchers.

Customized programs for graduate students and international students were also held in parallel. Special lectures by senior international student researchers settled in Korea and researchers from major corporations, a graduate student talk concert, and information sessions on international student support programs in the Jeonbuk region provided a venue for broad exchanges on academic and research experiences, career exploration, and regional settlement cases.

Attendees evaluated that the event was significant in that it went beyond simple research presentations, serving as an exchange forum where research, education, and student support were organically connected.

President Yang O-bong said, "This JBNU Research Fair Week confirmed the potential for the advanced research achievements that JBNU has pursued to lead to national strategic industries and future growth. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen industry–university–research collaboration based on the university's research and educational capabilities and fulfill our role as a university that contributes to regional and national innovation."

Meanwhile, JBNU continues to promote strengthening graduate education competitiveness and dissemination of research outcomes through various research and educational innovation projects, including the BK21 Project. The university plans to continuously provide forums for exchange so that research outcomes can further extend into industry and society at large.
