Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will hold the 'JBNU Yeolpum Camp' to support prospective freshmen's adaptation to university life and strengthen their basic learning skills. The camp will take place from January 28 to 30, 2026, at the JBNU International Convention Center, residence halls, and other on-campus venues.
The camp was organized to help prospective freshmen understand overall university life and independently plan their studies and career paths, at a time when students' self-directed learning abilities have become increasingly important due to the regionalization and broadening of recruitment units.
The JBNU Yeolpum Camp consists of student-centered experiential programs. Through a variety of activities — team-based active learning projects; the 'Ttot-Ttomu Student Special Lecture' (a university student panel talk) featuring upperclassmen; an AI-based university study strategy workshop; and campus tours — the camp supports new students in taking their first steps with enthusiasm and confidence for university life.
In particular, the 'Ttot-Ttomu Student Special Lecture' will be conducted as a panel talk in which upperclassmen participate directly to share experiences in career planning and goal setting, examples of extracurricular activities, and overseas study trip cases, helping new students draw a realistic roadmap for university life.
Customized programs preparing students for the AI era are also notable. In the AI-based study strategy workshop, participants will learn efficient and ethical study methods using various AI tools, and programs will be offered to strengthen self-directed learning skills through hands-on practice. Students will use this foundation to establish their own university study strategies.
Activities to develop collaboration and problem-solving skills through team projects will also take place. Students will solve assigned tasks in groups, experience the importance of communication and cooperation, and build essential teamwork skills for university life.
The camp will run for two nights and three days and will accept 200 participants. Participation fees will be fully covered. Outstanding camp completers will be offered opportunities to participate in overseas language training in connection with the International Cooperation Division.
On the second day of the camp, the 29th, President Yang O-bong will deliver a special lecture in which he will share JBNU's major achievements and its vision as a student-centered university with prospective freshmen.
Shim Jae-woo, Vice-President of the Office of Educational Innovation at JBNU, said, 'The Yeolpum Camp is a program that enables new students to independently design their university life and to develop both self-directed learning and collaboration skills through AI study strategies and team projects. It will serve as a valuable starting point for prospective freshmen to take a meaningful first step.'
