Operated by the Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry–University Collaboration Foundation under commission from the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, the Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Unit (Director Hyun-Young Choi) will recruit staff in the education and welfare fields due to the substantial expansion of the 'Support Project for Children Growing as Themselves'.

The 'Support Project for Children Growing as Themselves' is a program supported by the Community Chest of Korea and the Korea Lottery Commission. It is a tailored developmental education program that helps children with borderline intellectual functioning (slow learners) grow into healthy members of society. Dispatched specialists visit community child centers to support not only the enhancement of cognitive and learning abilities but also the improvement of emotional well-being and social adaptability.

The Jeonbuk Support Unit applied to expand the number of participating institutions for 2026 from 40 to 60 in response to steadily growing local demand for the program and was ultimately selected. As a result, the number of beneficiary children will increase to 240. To operate the expanded program stably, the unit plans to recruit a large number of specialists to support children on site.

A total of 60 positions will be hired. Applications will be accepted by 10:00 AM on January 30. Final candidates will be announced after interviews held from February 4 to 6. The selected candidates will complete pre-service training and then work at community child centers from March through November.

Eligibility includes holding a degree (including those who have completed required coursework) in a child-related field, holding at least a Level 2 social worker certificate, holding a Level 1 childcare teacher certificate or a teaching license, or possessing a youth counselor qualification. Applicants must hold at least one of the relevant certifications to apply.

Detailed information on the recruitment procedure and qualification requirements is available on the Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Unit website (http://www.icarejb.or.kr). Inquiries can be directed to the Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Unit at (063-227-5479).

Hyun-Young Choi, Director of the Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Unit, said, "The 'Support Project for Children Growing as Themselves,' which began in 2022 and is now in its fifth year, has taken root successfully with the active cooperation of community child centers. With growing social interest in slow learners, we hope many local candidates with a sense of mission will apply so we can provide quality services to more children."

Kim Seo-hyun, Chair of the Operations Committee and Professor in the Department of Social Welfare at JBNU, added, "Intervening in the life course of children with borderline intellectual functioning to bring about positive change is highly meaningful. As the program enters its fifth year, we expect and welcome the interest and participation of local talent in strengthening its foundations."
