Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has launched an advisory panel composed of 43 members, including education office supervisors and high school teachers, to establish a fair and trustworthy university admissions system.

JBNU stated that it formed the advisory panel to enhance the quality of its admissions procedures by incorporating field experience and diverse opinions, and to strengthen communication and cooperation among high schools, education offices, and the university amid significant changes to the admissions environment beginning with the 2028 academic year.

The launch of the advisory panel aims to establish a regional cooperation framework to proactively respond to changes in the admissions system. It is intended to support the strengthening of high school education through active information exchange as the need to address regional depopulation and to cultivate glocal talent increases.

On the 15th, JBNU held the advisory panel's commissioning ceremony and its first council meeting, and presented letters of appointment to the advisory members. That day, the JBNU Admissions Office explained the analysis of JBNU admissions for the 2026 academic year, the admissions plan for the 2027 academic year, and the direction of admissions for the 2028 academic year. The office exchanged views with the advisory members by answering pre-submitted questions and through on-site Q&A.

At the council, strong interest in JBNU's admissions procedures continued and a wide range of questions were raised. The advisory members praised the meeting as "a useful opportunity to increase understanding of JBNU's admissions procedures."

Ahn Jeong-yong, Director of the JBNU Admissions Office, said, "It was a satisfying occasion that allowed us to review the direction of JBNU's admissions procedures through the pre-submitted questions and the opinions raised on site," adding, "We will continue to create opportunities for ongoing communication, such as operating a group chat for the advisory panel, to enhance the fairness and trustworthiness of the admissions process."

Meanwhile, JBNU plans to hold the '2026 Jeonbuk High School Career and College Counseling Heads Meeting' on February 10 for heads of career and college counseling at high schools in the Jeonbuk region to strengthen high school–university linkages.
