New Technology Commercialization with Industry |
Major |
College of Engineering |
Electronic Engineering |
Engineering aims to study how to construct tools that are beneficial to humans based on scientific and technical principles, and ultimately to create and distribute them to the world. Traditionally, the role of engineering—focused on product development—was separated from business and marketing. However, in modern society, such distinctions are rapidly fading. As technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and automation continue to evolve, engineers are increasingly expected to understand not only technical systems but also how these systems can be delivered to the market and create value. This course helps students cultivate convergence-based knowledge by guiding them through the end-to-end innovation cycle: from problem identification and AI-based prototype development, to market analysis, business modeling, and commercialization. By simulating real-world startup or product launch processes, students will develop a practical mindset
and interdisciplinary skillset that can be applied in both entrepreneurship and employment settings.

This course explores academic writing, specifically the essay, and the fundamentals required to write a successful essay, including logical thinking and appropriate language use. The idea of writing an essay may seem particularly daunting, so the approach of this course is to deal with what may seem a particularly difficult task by examining it piece by piece and attempting it step by step. In the first half of the semester, we will examine the definition of an academic essay and its structure and mechanics—including how language and logic are used in effective essay writing—by looking at example essays and demystifying the writing skills that create them. In the second half of the semester we will refocus our attention to gain practical experience and knowledge on the writing of essays in the form of a term essay and an essay test. |

Department of English Language & Literature |
Course Description: This course is designed for students with English abilities of intermediate and above. It is designed to develop students’ conversation/communication abilities by facilitating enriching experiences that provide ample opportunities to improve fluency. This class will focus on fluency over accuracy. This means that a student’s communicative ability is favoured over grammatical correctness. Due to the large number of students in this class, it will rely heavily on group work and task-based learning. Each task will explore different themes/scenarios that require different forms of communication strategies and uses of language for a variety of presentations, but group conversation/interaction—in English—is required every day to accomplish these tasks. |

English Syntax & English Teaching 2 |
Major electives |
College of Education |
Department of English Education |
This course is the second half in a two-semester sequence in syntactic theory. The course introduces students to some of the essential ideas and issues discussed in the framework of generative grammar in the 1960s through 1980s, by exploring assumptions and analyses generally adopted in the literature at the time and examining a wide range of data that motivate them. The aim of the course is to help students to gain a deeper understanding of various syntactic phenomena in English and develop the basic abilities to conduct syntactic analysis of English sentences on their own. To this end, students will be provided with plenty of opportunities to analyze a novel set of English data using the theoretical tools that they learn in class. It is strongly recommended that students take English Syntax & English Teaching 1 (ESET 1) before enrolling in this course. The course assumes that students are familiar with the course material of ESET 1, and the material
covered in ESET 1 will not be repeated in the course.

Originally, economics began with political economics. This is why political economics can play an important role in determining what economic ideas and theories should be applied to the real economy depending on the circumstances of the times. Marx's capital theory is the most detailed and rational analysis of these political economics concerns. The fact that modern welfare policies are based on Marx's ineffectiveness today can not be denied that his political and economical analytical power is very good. Therefore, in this course, we will concentrate on examining what kind of thinking and methodology Marx tried to overcome the problems of the real economy of the Marx era. |

The course introduces students to syntactic theory that seeks to cover the empirical phenomena drawn from English and a variety of other languages. The particular theory that the course will focus on is the ``Principles and Parameters'' approach to syntax, which attempts to characterize the grammars of all natural languages in terms of a set of universal principles that all languages share, and a set of parameters along which languages may vary. The course will stress the tools of syntactic argumentation and hypothesis testing, through examining how the Principles and Parameters approach handles data. The objective of the course is to have students familiarized with the basic concepts and analytical methods for doing syntactic analyses under the framework of the Principles and Parameters approach, equipping them with the abilities to conduct basic syntactic analyses on their own. In this course, it is assumed that students have basic knowledge of
linguistic concepts and key terms.
