Department of Commerce and Trade was established in 1962 with the expansion of international trades importance after the College of Commerce was established in 1951. The master’s program opened in 1972, and then the doctoral program in 1979, fostering the professionals in trading business that the nation and the society need.
Recently, the graduate school for Cyper Trades opened in 2001, and opened CAIT (Center for Assisting Internet trade) in the department, assisting the trading business of local companies. In 2007, Chonbuk University was selected for GTEP, which is supported by the Ministry of Commerce, as the following business in TI (Trade Incubator) business, and high quality trading experts are fostered through this, contributing to the trading promotion in Korea.
The department is divided into trading director, theory on international economy, and international trades policy, and the professors in each major are as follows: professor Yoon Choong Won, Song Chae Hun, Kim Min Ho, Kim Eun Mi, Ha Hyun Soo in trading director major, professor Choi Nak Il, Byun Jae Gwon, Choi Baek Ryul, Choi Yong Jae in international economy theory, and about 10 or more professors in international trading policy, including professor Jung Ji Young. Each major has its sense of duty, academic and experience-based professional knowledge and volunteering spirit, actively carrying out the education and research studies in each field of study.
